These beetles may appear robotic and motionless at first glance, but a softly breathing LED inside tells a different story. Each one is powered by a simple yet elegant 555-timer circuit that slowly pulses the inner light—giving the beetle a quiet, lifelike glow.
The beetle itself is a custom-designed printed circuit board sculpture, populated with carefully chosen electronic components selected not just for function but for their visual charm. Its eyes are made from rare, antique red LEDs manufactured in the former USSR, adding a touch of history and character.
Every beetle is mounted in a handmade frame crafted from recycled pallet wood. Behind it sits a unique scrap circuit board backdrop, individually hand-selected to complement the piece. A USB-C jack on the back powers the artwork, allowing it to sit on a table or hang on a wall with ease. A USB-C power cord is included.
The beetle measures approximately 3-1/4″ × 3-1/4″, while the frame measures 7-1/4″ × 7-1/4″ × 2″.
Each beetle is completely one-of-a-kind and part of a limited run of 200 similarly shaped specimens—no two are exactly alike.
