These photographs were captured with an Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II camera using Olympus 30 mm and 60 mm macro lenses. Every image is presented exactly as it was captured from the camera. They are RAW files with no post-processing, color correction, or digital manipulation.
Each subject is a vintage printed circuit board rescued from the electronic waste stream. Although these objects were originally designed for function rather than aesthetics, I believe they possess a remarkable visual beauty that often goes unnoticed. Their intricate copper traces, geometric patterns, and layered construction create compositions that rival architecture and abstract art.
My lighting technique is intentionally simple. A single LED light beneath the circuit board illuminates its translucent fiberglass substrate from below, while one or two LED lights above add warmth and depth, creating a subtle sunset-like glow. This combination reveals details that are normally hidden and transforms the circuit board into something that resembles a luminous cityscape viewed from above.
